Board of Management
The BSA Residual Company Ltd, under special resolution, inherited the former Basic Skills Agency's company registration number in July 2007. The six Trustees appointed and listed below have specific duties in ensuring the satisfactory cessation of the company by the end of 2008.
These include:
- acting as a point of contact for correspondence
- signing off the financial accounts
- holding the lease for company's office and exercising the break clause within it
- taking the necessary steps to put the 'shell' company into liquidation
- liaising with NIACE & the Welsh Assembly Government, the two organisations who have acquired the former Agency's activities & operations
- accounting to the DIUS for the use of the residual costs budget
The six Trustees are:
Garry Hawkes CBE
Chairman
Garry was formerly Chair and Chief Executive of Gardner Merchant and Director-General of Sodexho Group. He is currently Chair of the Edge Foundation and a Board Member of Investors in People.
Professor Margaret Maden
Vice Chair and Chair of the Audit Committee
Margaret, a former Headteacher, was Chief Education Officer and Director of the Centre for Successful Schools at Keele University. She is a Board Member of the Royal Opera House and Chair of the Regional Advisory Council of BBC South.
Tracey Burke
Board Appointed Member
Tracey is Director of Enterprise and Review at the Department of Enterprise, Innovation and Networks at the Welsh Assembly Government. She was formerly Director of Planning at the Welsh Development Agency and is an experienced public sector executive.
Dick Coldwell CBE
Representative Member – CBI (Confederation of British Industry)
Dick was formerly Chair of the CBI Learning and Skills Panel and a member of its Education and Training Committee. He chairs various higher education bodies such as Foundation Degree Forward, QAA/QCA Higher Levels Forum and the Board Strategic Committee at HEFCE.
Dr Bob Dobbie
Board Appointed Member
Bob is a highly skilled and influential former Senior Civil Servant with experience of Business. He was an advisor to the Cabinet Office and Department of Trade and Industry and is currently a Trustee of NEA, the national fuel poverty charity.
Kate Gordon
Board Appointed Member
Kate has considerable senior level experience in the public sector in England and Europe. She was formerly Deputy Director General of the Health and Safety Executive. Since November 2004 she has been a non executive director of the West Norfolk Primary Care Trust.
